Lake Literary Center Writing Workshop Instructor Policy

Lake Literary Center Cancellation, Refund, and Ticket Transfer Policy:

Lake Literary Center strives to run intimate, small-group programs with limited capacity. Your registration reserves a seat that may prevent others from joining. The following policy applies to all workshops, readings, ticketed events, and editing service appointments.

General Policy -- No Refunds or Transfers:

All ticket sales are final, as long as the minimum registrants (four individual registrants) have registered to attend the event. Tickets cannot be refunded or transferred to future events.

No-shows (failure to attend without contacting Lake Literary Center in advance) will never be refunded or credited.

Limited Exception for Higher-Priced Events:

For event tickets priced over $60, a refund or a one-time transfer to a future event may be granted if acceptable notice is provided.

Acceptable notice means contacting Lake Literary Center at least one (1) week in advance, or five (5) full business days prior to the event start time.

If notice is provided within the acceptable window, Lake Literary Center may (at its discretion) issue either: a refund to the original form of payment, or a one-time transfer to a comparable, future Lake Lit event of equal or lesser value.

Requests received after the acceptable notice period will not be eligible for refund or transfer. How to Request: Email ceo@lakeliterary.org with your full name, event title, event date/time, and order confirmation number. Requests are reviewed in the order received. Approval is not guaranteed and may depend on event logistics, capacity, and vendor commitments.

Cancellations by Lake Literary Center:

If Lake Literary Center cancels an event, registered attendees will be offered a full refund or a transfer to a rescheduled or alternative program. In 2026, Lake Lit will require at least four attendees to register for an event, as a minimum attendance policy. If the four-person registration minimum is not met by the afternoon of the event (1 PM CST), the event will be canceled and all registrants will be refunded in full.
