Are you a novelist, whether published or aspiring, who misses National Novel Writing Month? We are bringing it back! Or at least, we’re putting a local spin on it for November. This quick course will serve as a kick-off to Fond du Lac Novel Writing Month (Fond du No Wri Mo), and will cover the basics of plotting or “pantsing”—aka, writing by the seat of your pants. We’ll cover word count goals, novel outlines, and debate whether there really is any difference between plotting and pantsing. This event will be part lecture and discussion, part word sprints, and part support group. Just $40 and will include pizza, soft drinks, and the two-hour course and discussion.

About Fond du No Wri Mo
There will be write-ins at Lake Lit nearly every day throughout November, including Saturdays and Sundays! Includes an online leader board/word count (by the honor system), an online support group via Facebook, and fun prizes at the culmination of the month if you finish a 50,000-word novel draft, including a free 3-year Lake Literary Center membership! Sign up for individual write-ins ($5/two-hour session or $15/six-hour session), or register for the whole month of write-ins here:
After you’ve finished your novel draft, take the month of December off for the holidays and then meet with us on four consecutive Sundays in January to edit your manuscript. Must have a 50,000-word novel draft in order to register for this course. Each group member will be required to read each writer’s manuscript in full, offer a 1-2 page letter of feedback, and offer line and developmental editing suggestions for each writer. The course includes snacks, beverages, 1:1 30-minute session with Lake Literary Center founder Erica Floyd, the writerly support of peers, and the potential for a lifelong writing group. Register here after you’ve finished your novel draft in November—or if you already have a novel draft you’d like workshopped in January 2026:
