2026 Lake Lit Book Club

Lake Lit Book Club will be on third Mondays of the month in 2026, and we will meet every month except December. $20 or register to have a seat on the designated book club sofa for the whole year for $200, saving $20. Includes beverages (mocktail, decaf coffee, herbal tea, or soft drink) and light snacks. The 2026 Lake Lit Book Club reads are:

January 19, 2026: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire — A Banned Book, Tony Award-Winning Broadway Musical, Major Motion Picture Film Adaptations

February 16, 2026: James by Percival Everett — Black History Month, American Book Award, National Book Award, Pulitzer Prize for Fiction

March 16, 2026: My Name is Emilia del Valle by Isabel Allende — International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month

April 20, 2026: One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad — Arab American Heritage Month, National Book Award

May 18, 2026: The School for Good Mothers: A Novel by Jessamine Chan — Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, New York Times Bestseller, one of Barack Obama’s favorite books of 2022

June 15, 2026: The True True Story of Raja the Gullible (and His Mother) by Rabih Alameddine — Pride Month, National Book Award

July 20, 2026: The Someday Garden by Ashley Poston — Romance, Magical Realism

August 17, 2026: Lies and Sorcery by Elsa Morante, 1948, translated by Jenny McPhee in 2024. Bonus read if you’re ahead on your summer reading: Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico — Literary Translation, Women in Literary Translation Month

September 21, 2026: The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai — Shortlisted for Booker Prize
